Heartfelt Thanks from One of Our Clients

(Excerpts Reprinted with Permission.) Dear Alan and Sandy, I hope this letter finds you healthy, happy, and well. It has been one year now since my retirement began and it has not been difficult to become accustomed to the “what we want, when we want, with whom we’ve want” lifestyle.  We got to live in Florence, Italy, this spring for eleven weeks.  We spend a lot of time with our children and grandchildren, and we have enjoyed a lot of good wine and food and visiting with friends. I’m truthfully happy to report that so far retirement is all very good. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for helping us to get to this place in our lives.  You provided the tools and the guidance that allowed us to achieve our dreams at retirement.  Prior to meeting you we had only dreams, and fuzzy dreams, at that.  My sense is that you helped us to “grow up.”  That may sound strange in that I was almost fifty years old when I met you, but you changed our lives.  It was big things and little things, but because of you we are quite happy and comfortable today. Without you we would not be in this place at this time in our lives. I will be forever grateful that I had the good fortune to meet the two of you and to enjoy your good counsel.  I’m reminded of a popular song from 1967 by Lulu called, “To Sir with Love.” A line in the song, “How can we thank someone who took us from crayons to perfume?” seems so appropriate, and the words of...
